Skin Types & Concerns
Oily Skin
While it may sound counter productive, there are some facial oils that can really benefit oily or acne prone skin. Facial oils contain anti-inflammatory, antibacterial properties that can heal irritation as well as re-balance sebum levels and boost hydration. [bctt tweet=”Oily Skin can benefit from facial oils with the right ingredients. Look for oils that contain vitamins, anti-oxidants and amino acids. Here are a few of the best oils for oily skin..” username=”40andholding_”]All of these oils help to hydrate, protect, heal and moisturize the skin and balance sebum levels.

Jojoba Oil
Joboba Oil is very light and its molecular structure is very similar to that of the skin’s natural sebum. Extracted from the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) plant, native to parts of Arizona, California and Mexico, this oil helps to halt the skin’s overproduction of its oils. Joboba Oil is also good for those with sensitive skin.
Sunflower Oil
Sunflower Oil has a multitude of benefits for oily skin. This oil is non-comedogenic and has also been shown to repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier. This oil is rich in Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps to fight off free radicals and reduce inflammation. An added bonus of Sunflower Oil? It’s really affordable!
Maracuja Oil
Maracuja Oil is gentle and effective making it perfect for Oily Skin. Derived from the passion-flower, this lightweight oil contains Vitamin C (which aids in cell turnover and helps to brighten dull, tired complexions) and omega fatty acids (essential compounds found in the skin’s natural barrier).

Face Oils with Anti-Aging Benefits
[bctt tweet=”If you haven’t jumped onto the Face Oil bandwagon yet, here’s another reason to get on NOW! Many oils naturally contain anti-aging ingredients which help fight wrinkles and reduce the appearance of aging.” username=”40andholding_”]Adding the right face oil to your routine can help firm your skin, keep it well-moisturized, and boost the skin’s production of collagen. And many essential oils also have antioxidant properties that help rid your skin of free radicals to reduce the visible signs of aging and sun damage. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of face oil options now when it comes to anti-aging. You can opt for a pure oil that contains anti-aging properties or one of the face oil blends that contain a combination of oils that work together to fight aging. Let’s take a look at some of the best oils for anti-aging.

Lavender Oil
The most versatile essential oil, Lavender Oil contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anti aging properties. And it has skin regenerative properties that help to delay fine lines and wrinkles and fade age spots.
Rosehip Oil
I am a HUGE fan of Rosehip Oil (see my post on the amazing Skincare & Anti-aging Benefits of Rosehip Oil here). Rosehip Oil is harvested from the seeds of rose bushes predominately grown in Chile, and is full of vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that are known to correct dark spots and hydrate dry skin, reduce scars and fine lines and wrinkles. Rosehip Oil protects the skin and increases cell turnover because it contains vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin D and B-carotene, a form of vitamin A, and which are all antioxidants that help fight free radicals. This is one powerhouse oil!
Carrot Seed Oil
Carrot Seed Oil is great for aging skin as it contains antioxidant properties that defend the skin from free radicals. It tightens the skin and promotes cell regeneration. Carrot Seed Oil also provides a rejuvenating effect that improves the tone & appearance of aging skin.
Sandalwood Oil
Sandalwood Oil contains natural astringent properties that help tighten, firm & improve the tone of the skin. Extracts from sandalwood have great moisturizing properties and can help smooth skin that shows signs of aging. And, Sandalwood Oil protects skin cells from UV radiation and sun damage.

Regardless of which face oil you are using, skincare experts agree that you should press the oil onto your skin rather than rubbing it onto the skin. Here’s a few more face oil beauty tips that you may find helpful!
- Apply Face Oil after Serum but before moisturizer. (depending upon your skin type, you may not need to follow with a moisturizer)
- Face Oils can be used Day & Night
- Add a little bit of your Face Oil to your Shampoo for healthy, shiny hair!
- Massage your cuticles with a drop of your face oil and massage over the nails for a healthy shine
- Add a few drops to your body lotion for added hydration

Wow such an informative post!
I have oily skin, it developed this year after taking steroids for an allergic reaction! I’ve never heard of using oils before! I’m not sure I would be a fan of the feeling on my face. I use an oil based make up remover and I absolutely hate the feeling! If I could across oils in Korea, I’ll definitely give it a go!
