I finished up a few makeup and skincare products and that means it’s Beauty Empties time again! This month I’ve got mini reviews of a several drugstore products and a couple higher end items. Some of them are holy grail and others, well… not so much.
Ready to take a trip through my trash? Let’s go…
Olay Total Effects Advanced Anti-Aging Body Lotion
This body lotion is said to fight seven signs of aging, delivering seven benefits in one: improves elasticity, relieves dryness, deeply conditions skin, brightens dull skin, evens skin tone, smooths rough skin and minimizes the appearance of fine lines. While I did find Olay Total Effects Advanced Anti-Aging Body Lotion to be very hydrating with a lovely, fresh scent, I didn’t really see any improvement in the conditions this lotion is said to address. In all fairness, one bottle is probably not enough time to see noticeable results and it does get 4-5 star reviews on Amazon. But I’m not very patient so I’m moving on to try something else. (So sorry Olay!)
Price: $6.99 – $9.99 USD for 13.5 oz.

Derma E Natural Oil-Free Sunscreen SPF30
This Mineral Sunscreen from Derma E sounds fantastic. It is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free and all natural. It pains me to say this because Derma E is seriously one of my all time favorite brands. Their skincare products are made with high quality, good for your skin ingredients and are comparable to high end brands at an affordable price. Unfortunately, the Derma E Natural Oil-Free Sunscreen was a total bust. It left a white residue and pilled on the skin making it impossible to apply makeup over it. Even on it’s own, the white residue and pilling makes it unsightly and uncomfortable to wear. I noticed that Derma E recently changed the packaging on their sun care line of products. Hopefully they changed the formula as well.
Price: $15.00 USD for 2 oz.

Olay Complete UV365 SPF30 for Sensitive Skin
This sunscreen is lightweight and especially good for sensitive skin. Olay Complete UV 365 is formulated with Olay’s SolaSheer Sensitive Technology that helps protect against harmful UVA/UVB rays. It is oil-free, fragrance free and non-greasy. The active ingredients in this sunscreen are zinc oxide (mineral), octinoxate, ostisalate and octocrylene (chemicals). Overall this is a great sunscreen. It doesn’t irritate the skin, wears well both on it’s own or under makeup and has no residue or pilling. I probably will not repurchase this product simply because I recently decided to switch over to all mineral sunscreens. The recent reports regarding the chemicals in sunscreens entering your bloodstream in under a minute raised concerns for me. We don’t know whether or not the chemicals are actually harmful and likely won’t know that for some time. If this isn’t an issue for you, this sunscreen is a great option.
Price: $22.38 USD for Two 2.5 oz. bottles.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream
I recently did an Instagram Post on this product because I was in panic mode when I hit the bottom of my travel sized jar! Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream is a protein moisturizer that combines peptides, amino acids and pygmy waterlily for visible and immediate improvement in the appearance of skin’s tone, texture and firmness. And let me just say, this stuff 100% delivers. It is fantastic and I literally fell in love with it the first time I used it. Drunk Elephant is such an amazing brand. I love their clean ingredients and the fact that their products deliver actual results. Drunk Elephant! Yes Please!
Price: $68.00 USD for 1.69 oz (and worth every penny!)

Timeless Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum
Vitamin C Serum is a must in my skincare routine. A good vitamin c serum will help brighten and even out the skin and maintain firmness. I look for one that contains 15-20% Vitamin C. Timeless Vitamin C + Ferulic Acid Serum is a great option. This lightweight serum contains the correct percentage of Vitamin C and the optimal phBalance. And the ferulic acid helps to stabalize the Vitamin C and extend the life of the serum. This serum is paraben free, cruelty free, fragrance free with no color dyes added. I will definitely be repurchasing this!

Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial
Another Holy Grail from Drunk Elephant! Drunk Elephant Sukari Babyfacial is an at-home “facial” that effectively yet gently exfoliates the pore lining and resurfaces by getting rid of built-up dead skin cells. It contains a 25% AHA and 2% BHA blend of glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric and salicylic acids. Sukari Babyfacial brightens the skin, improves skin’s elastic feel and reveals the look of a more even, radiant baby-soft complexion.
What I love about this product is that you only have to use it once per week and there is absolutely no burning, stinging or redness afterwards (there is a slight stinging sensation when you initially apply the mask but it goes away within minutes). This product is excellent for those with sensitive skin that are unable to use other glycolic acid products. I absolutely love this stuff and will definitely repurchase!
Price: $80 USD for 1.69 Oz. (this bottle will last several months)

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
In my opinion, this is the best concealer at the drugstore. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer provides just the right amount of coverage for under the eyes or spot concealing. It blends into the skin without settling into fine lines or wrinkles and doesn’t crease. And it’s available in 17 shades. There is also a brightening formula and a neutralizing formula to brighten under the eyes and conceal dark circles. This is a staple in my beauty bag and I always have one on hand!
Price: $6.00 – $7.99 USD for 0.2 fl. oz.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
This Setting Spray is said to be a weightless spray that keeps makeup looking just-applied for up to 16 hours. According to Urban Decay, the All Nighter Setting Spray results in smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or night) without melting, cracking, fading, or settling into fine lines. While this is a holy grail for many women that I know, for me it just doesn’t work. I find the finish much too luminous and it doesn’t do enough to control oil throughout the day. It’s just not a match for my combination skin.
Price: $15.00 – $33.00 USD for 0.5 to 4 oz.

Dior Addict Lip Glow
Dior Addict Lip Glow is a a sheer balm that enhances your natural lip color while moisturizing and protecting lips. Although Lip Glow is a bit pricey, there really is nothing else like it. It provides a beautiful wash of sheer color that looks like your natural lips while keeping your lips moisturized. The finish is absolutely beautiful and lasts for hours. Dior Addict Lip Glow is available in 7 shades. My favorite is the Holographic Pink which is just like the original Pink Glow with an added bit of glow! While I don’t buy this all the time, I definitely see myself purchasing it again in the future!

Thank you so much Amy!🙏 That body lotion is a great price! I think I didn’t give it enough time. So many women rave about it. May have to revisit it!💕💕
Hi Susie
I have heard good things about Drunk Elephant, but never tried it. I may check it out. I do like the Olay line, and it’s reasonable! I enjoyed reading what you like and make a note on some of the products.

Yes, Olay is a brand we can trust! And Drunk Elephant has some amazing products! Let me know if you try. Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕
Wonderful product reviews. I’m sorry to hear about the Urban Decay fail as I love that brand. Also, yeek. Prior to reading your article I was unaware of the recent reports regarding the chemicals in sunscreens entering your bloodstream in under a minute. — I’ll have to mull that over.

Right? I found that a bit scary. Even if the chemicals aren’t harmful, the fact that they enter your bloodstream that fast freaked me out a bit! 😂 The Urban Decay Setting Spray would be great on normal to dry skin but on combo skin like mine, it was too oily. Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!💕💕
Thanks for the tips and useful product reviews. Thanks also for including SPF and UV protection details. What a time saver! 🙂
You’re welcome! I’m glad you found it helpful. Thank you so much for stopping by & reading!🙏
Thanks for all the great information, Susie. I should be able to find the Maybelline concealer here in Tbilisi. I hadn’t thought about Vitamin C in my moisturizer, but you make a good point and I will look for that also. The Drunk Elephant products sound like they are really affective. I’m not sure I’ll be able to find them here, but will check. Thanks for sharing another great post!
Thank you so much for stopping by & reading Christina! Drunk Elephant is such an amazing brand, especially for those with sensitive skin! Let me know if you try the concealer!💕💕
Thanks for the great reviews Susie! I love Timeless Serum too. I haven’t heard of the Drunken Elephant brand, but I may buy that cream from y0ur store since you loved it.
Hugs, Melanie
Thank you so much Mel! I’m obsessed with the Drunk Elephant Polypeptide Cream! Their entire lineup of products is fantastic! Let me know if you try the cream!💕💕
